A headless humanoid built for the heaviest factory work.
Calvin-40 is Wandercraft's first humanoid — a headless, hands-optional industrial robot that skips a face and dexterous fingers in favor of raw carrying capacity: it lifts up to 40 kg, roughly double what Tesla's Optimus or Figure 02 handle, using interchangeable padded grippers and suction end-effectors. The French company built the first prototype in 40 days by reusing the self-balancing dynamic-walking technology behind its medical exoskeletons, and validated the lower body across more than a million steps. Calvin runs on NVIDIA Isaac simulation and Jetson onboard compute with vision-language reasoning and voice control, and its medical-grade safety stack targets a failure rate below 1 in 1,000. Renault Group — a strategic investor since June 2025 — has one already working its Douai EV line handling tires and has committed to 350 units across French and Spanish plants by 2027; Italian supplier SAPA has also signed on, and by September 2026 Wandercraft reported 12 enterprise customers across automotive, logistics, retail, healthcare, and defense while raising roughly €100M. First series delivery is expected in the first half of 2027. Wandercraft has not published Calvin-40's height, weight, degrees of freedom, runtime, or a public price; only the 40 kg payload is official, so the other figures shown are estimates.

Wandercraft spent more than a decade building self-balancing medical exoskeletons — the Atalante X rehabilitation system (two U.S. FDA clearances, deployed in 100+ rehab centers) and the FDA-cleared Eve personal exoskeleton — before transferring that dynamic-balance technology into Calvin-40, its first industrial humanoid. Founded in Paris in 2012 and led by co-founder and CEO Matthieu Masselin, the company now runs dual headquarters in Paris and New York and counts Renault Group as both a strategic investor and its first humanoid customer.
