About this unit

The next generation of the most iconic humanoid.

The all-electric Atlas replaces the hydraulic research platform with a fully electric actuation system, higher range-of-motion joints, and a form factor targeted at real customer deployments in automotive manufacturing. In July 2026 owner Hyundai Motor Group moved to buy out SoftBank's remaining ~10% stake and take Boston Dynamics fully in-house; Hyundai's plan puts Atlas's first factory deployment at its Metaplant (HMGMA) in Georgia beginning 2028, expanding to component assembly by 2030. Atlas is not sold to outside buyers and has no public price.

Highlights
  • Fully electric actuation
  • 360° joint range in hips, wrists, torso
  • Hyundai moving to full ownership (2026)
  • Factory deployment at HMGMA Georgia from 2028
  • New three-fingered grippers
