A home helper your loved ones can step into.
Plim is a wheeled home-and-care humanoid from Munich's Plim Robotics (formerly Devanthro) that pairs autonomous household help with a distinctive 'step-in' mode: a family member or caregiver up to 9,000 km away can take control and act through the robot's body, with their own face shown on its visor and their voice and movements driving it over 5G. Built on nearly a decade of the TU Munich 'Roboy' lineage and real in-home care pilots since 2024, Plim stands 1.65 m, rolls on a three-wheel omnidirectional base, and uses two 7-DoF arms with two-finger grippers (about 3 kg payload) under a soft protective cover for safe contact. An NVIDIA Jetson Thor runs its on-board AI, fed by stereo RGB-D vision, a 4K fisheye camera, mm-wave radar, and stereo microphones. Plim is aimed first at elderly care and families, but the October 2026 reveal is a design-and-service unveiling: the company has not announced a price, a delivery date, or measured task-success rates, and its listed two-hour battery means round-the-clock support depends on docking and scheduling rather than one charge — so the figures here are estimates.
- ◆'Step-in' teleoperation: a loved one or caregiver operates Plim from up to 9,000 km away
- ◆Wheeled: three-wheel omnidirectional base; soft cover for safe home contact
- ◆Dual 7-DoF arms, two-finger grippers, ~3 kg payload; QDD actuators
- ◆NVIDIA Jetson Thor; stereo RGB-D + 4K fisheye + mm-wave radar; 5G / Wi-Fi 6
- ◆In real homes since 2024 (elderly/dementia care); no public price or ship date yet
Plim Robotics is the Munich company formerly known as Devanthro, which spun out of TU Munich's 'Roboy' musculoskeletal-robot project in 2018 and has placed teleoperated care robots in real private homes since 2024 — including, in January 2026, what it calls the world's first humanoid caring for a person with dementia at home. In October 2026 it rebranded as Plim Robotics and revealed Plim, a wheeled home robot that blends autonomous household help with a 'step-in' mode letting a distant family member or caregiver operate the robot through their own face, voice, and movements over VR. The company works with German care providers and research partners including Charité Berlin and the University of Oxford.
