Sanctuary AI unveils Phoenix Generation 7 — faster, lighter, more dexterous.
April 25, 2024 — Sanctuary AI reveals the seventh generation of Phoenix, with expanded range of motion, better perception, and 50× faster task automation.

Vancouver-based Sanctuary AI announced Generation 7 of Phoenix, its general-purpose humanoid. The seventh-gen platform improves human-like range of motion, adds tactile sensing to more joints, and — most importantly for the company's business model — cuts the time required to onboard a new task by roughly 50× versus the previous generation.
Sanctuary's thesis has always been slightly out of step with the field: Phoenix is teleoperation-first, with the Carbon control system trained on data collected from human pilots rather than pure simulation. Generation 7 sharpened that thesis. Faster teleop uptake, faster task acquisition, faster policy convergence.
The result is a platform aimed at customers who need many low-volume tasks automated fast — the profile of most third-party contract manufacturers — rather than one high-volume task automated perfectly.
