Agility and GXO sign the first humanoid RaaS deal.
June 27, 2024 — GXO and Agility Robotics announce a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement with Digit at GXO's Spanx facility.

GXO Logistics — the world's largest pure-play contract logistics operator — and Agility Robotics announced a multi-year, formally commercial deployment of Digit humanoids at GXO's Spanx facility outside Atlanta. It was the first industry-first humanoid Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) agreement of its kind: not a pilot, not a trial. A live contract, integrated alongside GXO's existing cobots.
Digit had been running in GXO buildings since June 5 of that year, when it became the first humanoid to be formally deployed into commercial operations. Six weeks later, the two companies formalized the arrangement as a multi-year deal — turning what had been a proof point into a production line item.
The RaaS framing matters. Under RaaS, GXO does not buy Digit units outright; it pays for the work Digit does. That structure — familiar from the AMR and cobot categories — is likely how most humanoid deployments will actually be procured for the next several years, regardless of what the sticker price on any given product page says.
